In the first of the Round of 16 matches Eamon Murphy & Wes Connaughton beat John Stephenson & John Kennedy by two frames to nil in Ballyloughlin. Having lost the first frame, Keith Stringer & Andrew Leeson staged a comeback at Sunrise to defeat Pat O'Sullivan & Gerry Reynolds in a scrappy encounter by 2 frames to one. At Leabeg Tom McDonald & Trevor Phillips overcame Robert Stringer & Stephen Houlihan by two frames to nil.
