The competition is for groups of 8 players and is based on snooker doubles
Players will play one match with each of the other seven members of their Group against other members of their Group as per the draw.
House rules will apply in all group matches.
Each match will last for 30 minutes or one frame whichever occurs first. In the event of the frame not being completed at the end of the alloted time, all of the players will have one more turn (including the player currently playing if they have played a stroke).
The two players with the highest number of points will represent their group in the next phase. In the event of a player not being available to play in the next phase another Group player may take their place as a substitute
Each player will receive the following number of points for each match they play in their group.
Winners 3 points
Losers 1 point
Drawn 2 points
In the event of two or more players having the same overall score after all matches are played, then the total number of points they and their partners scored in all frames minus those scored against them in all frames will decide final placings in a “goal difference” style. In the event of a further tie, the “points scored” will be the decider.
If required, we can supply a schedule for Groups that wish to play on ONE night only.
All Group matches MUST be completed by Friday 7th February 2020.
It is the responsibility of the CAPTAIN of each Group to ensure that all matches are played to the rules and that all scores are recorded accurately and passed to Keith or Gerry along with the entry fees collected.
Dates
The second stage of the tournament will consist of 4 “round robin” groups. These will be held on 17th, 18th, 24th and 25th February at venues to be announced. Each “round robin” winner will progress to a final “round robin” on Friday 28th February to decide the tournament winner. The winners will receive The Cyril Stringer Snooker Cup and commemorative plaques and the runners up will receive commemorative plaques.
Charity Funds
The suggested donation is €30 per player and all entry fees collected will be divided equally between our charity beneficiaries, Greystones Cancer Support and Wicklow Alzheimer’s Support.
Thank you for supporting this 14th year of our tournament.
