Snooker Tournament is Back !

Yes we're back again this year with our charity snooker tournament. For 2017 we have a new format and a new beneficiary All the details are in the rules document below. Hope you get involved again this year.

Rules for Cyril Stringer Snooker Cup 2017

The competition is for groups of 8 players and this year will be run for the benefit of Our Lady’s Hospital for Sick Children Crumlin. The suggested donation per group of 8 is €100.

Each player will play four frames as per the score sheet.

Only the scores of three frames will count in deciding the players to represent the group as follows:

Either the 1st or 2nd frame (the one they do best in) and the 3rd & 4th frames as in the order of play on the score sheet.   House rules will apply in group matches.

Each match will last for 30 minutes or one frame whichever occurs first.
In the event of the frame not being completed at the end of the time, all of the players will have one more turn. (including the player currently playing if they have played a stroke).

The two players with the highest number of points will represent their group in the next phase (in the event of a player not being available to play in the next phase then the third placed player may take their place).

Each player will receive the following number of points for each match they play in their group.

Winners          3 points
Losers            1 point
Drawn                       2 Points

In the event of two or more players having the same number of points after all matches are played, then the total number of points they and their partners scored minus those scored against them will decide the placings in a “goal difference” style. In the event of a tie the “points scored” will be the decider.

All Group matches MUST be completed by Thursday 23rd February 2017.

The second phase of the competition will be run on a round robin basis and the draw for this will be held on Saturday 18th February in Leabeg at 9pm.
