Rules for Snooker Doubles Competition
The competition is for groups of 8 players.
Players will play one match with each of the other seven members of their group against other members of their group as per the draw.
House rules will apply in group matches.
Each match will last for 30 minutes or one frame whichever occurs first.
In the event of the frame not being completed at the end of the time, all of the players will have one more turn. (Including the player currently playing if they have played a stroke). The two players with the highest number of points will represent their group in the finals (in the event of a player not being available to play in the knock out stages the third player may take their place).
Each player will receive the following number of points for each match they play in their group.
Winners 3 points
Losers 1 point
Drawn 2 Points
In the event of two or more players having the same number of points after all matches are played, then the total number of points they and their partners scored in all frames minus those scored against them in all frames will decide placings in a “goal difference” style. In the event of a tie the “points scored” will be the decider.
All Group matches MUST be completed by Friday 25th January 2013.
It is the responsibility of the CAPTAIN of each Group to ensure that all matches are played to the rules and that all scores are recorded accurately and passed to Keith or Gerry along with the entry fees collected.
Entry fee remains at €25 per player and all fees received will be equally divided between our charity beneficiaries, Greystones Cancer Support and Alzheimer’s Society Co. Wicklow Branch.
Thanks for supporting this EIGHTH year of the tournament.
Knock-Out Round of 16
We expect that there will be a total of 18 winning pairs.
The 18 winning pairs will enter a draw to create a further 8 matches. This will require up to 2 preliminary play offs to reduce the number to 16.
For the avoidance of doubt the FIRST match drawn on the night will involve 4 pairs. Each set of 2 pairs will be required to play a preliminary match to decide the line up for Match 1 in the Second Round. Preliminary matches are to be played on Monday 28th January at venues to be confirmed and Match 1 will be played on Friday 1st February at Leabeg with scoring and rules as per the Second Round proper.
Each second round match will decided on the best of three timed frames of 30 minutes duration with rules similar to Round One. Each table will be available from 7.30pm on the evening for pre-match warm-up..
