The first semi final was held at leabeg on Monday 8th Feb where Tony Walshe&Craig Newsome faced Pat O'Sullivan&Dave Dunne. Both teams had come into the match after exciting quarter finals last Friday night.
The first frame went to Pat&Dave by a score of 39 to 23 and featured a fine break from Dave. Frame 2 was a tight affair and both sides missed chances late on to take it. In the end Pat's fine pots on red and pink narrowed the difference to just one point. After another round of shots and near misses Tony&Craig took it by the narrowest margin 26 to 25.
The third frame decider was untimed and was again a close affair. As we reached the colours there was little between the teams with scores going either way. At the end Pat took blue and a (fine) pink to set up a black ball decider. After five rounds of shots Tony potted the black from short range to take the frame 46 to 37 and the match by 2-1.
Tony&Craig will face the winners of tomorrow night's match in Saturday's final.
Well done to Tony&Craig and hard luck to Pat&Dave. Thanks for an exciting match.
